Jesus Loves Me This I Know
Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones do Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me, yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.
[Instrumental Jesus Loves Me/Clair De Lune]
[Fred Bock]
At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy
Spirit and He said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
thank You for hiding these things from those who think
themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the
childlike. Yes Father, it pleased You to do it this way.
[Luke 10: 21]
ittle Suzie was winding up her night time prayer and said:
Dear God, Before I finish, I want you to take care of mommy,
take care of daddy, take care of my sister and my brother
and please, God, take care of yourself, because if you don't
we're all sunk. Amen!
A child’s theology – we are nothing without God. While it
may seem that the rewards in life come to the rich and
famous, the beautiful, smart and powerful, God’s reward, His
kingdom is available to everybody…to every nobody! Ministry
with God has its rewards, it is a privilege and the
disciples were excited about the access to that power. But
the real privilege and cause of joy is the fact that we have
eternal life with Him and that our eternal life starts
immediately. Just like a child, we are instantly rewarded
with His eternal presence and love.
Jesus thanks God in these verses that spiritual truth is
available to all who don’t try to over think or
intellectualize His grace. It may seem as if scholarly
pursuits are not something that is encouraged in these
verses, but Jesus was not denigrating those things, He was
warning against being prideful of those things; of being
wise in our own eyes, trusting our own “smarts.” He was
encouraging us to have a child-like faith in Him rather than
relying on our own power and strength to find our way in
this world. Jesus is grateful that God has chosen to reveal
Himself to the humble, those that rely on Him rather than
themselves. Studying the Bible, attending worship,
discussing the Word of God with other Christians and
modeling Christ’s life to the best of our abilities are
wonderful pursuits as long as we don’t let conceit and pride
get in the way of trusting God’s grace; staying careful that
we don’t begin trusting our own personal qualifications for
salvation. The plain simple fact is that Jesus Loves Us,
came to earth for us, died for us and the Bible tells us
so….every verse, every book, parable, prophet and psalm.
